Verdict

Another competitive sprint with the weights headed by Mehronissa, who won at Windsor and Newmarket last season. There was give in the ground on both occasions, however, and she may struggle today. A question mark also hangs over Fingal's Cave, who has been racing over further. But Ascot third Shipyard should go well under regular pilot Ali Rawlinson, though he's closely matched with runner-up Flowers On Venus. CANYARI (NAP) is steadily slipping down the weights despite not having run a bad race over this trip in recent starts. He makes plenty of appeal here with Paul Hanagan taking over the reins from an apprentice. Ocean Sheridan needs soft ground but Meshardal is starting to look well treated and could reach the frame at decent odds.
