In depth
Verdict
James Fanshawe has been an exceptionally good trainer to follow with fillies this season and the Newmarket handler can strike again with Musicanna, who is selected in preference to Tenny's Gold and Santa Catarina, who appeal the most out of the rest to hold previous experience. Alghaazy is an interesting newcomer that is worth noting in the market, while Foolish Groom is running out of excuse and is one to be wary of. Tenny's Gold was held up to get the trip over ten furlongs at Bath just over a week ago, where the waiting tactics may have been overplayed in hindsight. The drop back to a mile will suit her better today and she can go close if she is in the right mood here. Santa Catarina is another that drops back in distance after falling short of the mark over an extended 10f last time. She holds ability but does now have a little to prove. Especially when the presence of the unexposed Musicanna is taken into account. The daughter of Cape Cross made a pleasing debut when second in a maiden at Newmarket in June - the form of which bears up to scrutiny when comparisons are made again the caliber of today's opposition. A repeat dose of that performance from Musicanna can suffice in this company
