In depth
Verdict
This looks much tougher than the contest that Circassian struggled to win at Catterick at the weekend and he is taken on with Artistic Style, who looks a more reliable sort than Can Can Flyer, who heads the list of alternatives from the remainder. The last mentioned was very well supported in both his last two starts and looked set to deliver before finding one more determined at the finish on each occasion. He looks a dour stayer judged on those performances and the drop in trip might not suit him today. Circassian is sure to be popular, being a potentially well handicapped runner from the Sir Mark Prescott team. However, he really struggled to overhaul some weaker opponents on Saturday and is vulnerable under a penalty, despite his trainer's ability at producing them ready to find more when asked. Therefore, we take him on with Artistic Style, who is on a roll at the moment, having done us a few favours in the last couple of months. A 6lb penalty does not look too harsh considering the progress he has made since the start of the season. So there are more positives than negatives when assuming that Artistic Style can land the hat-trick today.
