      Verdict

Overturn ran well when a close third on the Polytrack at Kempton earlier this month but a 3lb rise for that run looks harsh and Walter Swinburn's gelding may have to settle for minor honours behind GORDONSVILLE, who gets the vote over Murcar. The last mentioned has shown improved form for Clive Cox of late and lost no caste in defeat behind Jadalee at Wolverhampton last time but a 3lb rise since then looks harsh so he may be booked for a place at best. Peter Bowen's Markington was in good form on the flat when last seen in June but he has disappointed in a couple of recent starts over hurdles and now looks best watched. Eric Alston's Bajan Parkes and Luca Cumani's Mubrook both have claims on the pick of their form but that has been on a softer surface and, unless rain arrives, they are hard to recommend. The vote then goes to Jim Goldie's Gordonsville, who has shown improvement in recent outings and he has an obvious chance off the same mark as when a close third at Hamilton last week.
