        Verdict

        Four of these are previous course and distance winners with Masterpaver having the best recent form having made all in an apprentices' race here last week. But he is taking on better opposition today, though several of his rivals have their quirks. Musselburgh third Nonchalant hasn't won since his debut in Ireland in 2014 and Berrahri is probably better on Polytrack. The Character is woefully out of form and Oriental Tiger is also struggling at present so we'll take a chance on HANSEATIC. Lightly raced for his age, he found 1m too short on his reappearance at Thirsk but wasn't disgraced and will strip fitter now.

        The Character (IRE) 13-2 (9-1) Soon led, joined after 5f, driven 4f out, headed 2f out, soon ridden and weakened, last of 11, 18 1/4l behind Indira (9-5) at Chester 1m 4f hcp (4) gd in May.

        Masterpaver 7-4fav (9-6) Made all, joined over 3f out, ridden and ran on final furlong, eased near finish, won at Haydock 1m 2f hcp (5) gf in May beating La Havrese (9-3) by 2l, 7 ran.
