In depth
Verdict
Wasted Talent made a hugely-promising debut when second at Newbury 17 days ago and can now go one better at the main expense of Sharp Rigging. Sent off a 100/1 shot that day, the selection found only the promising Numitas too good for him and looks to have been found a good opening in which to secure winning brackets. Sharp Rigging also ran well on his debut, finishing third at Huntingdon behind Adopted Hero, who went on to run well at the Cheltenham Festival. With Tony McCoy booked, he looks set to run a big race. Of the others, Menphis Beury showed promise in his native France before running reasonably well before unseating his rider at Kempton on his British debut, while Water Nymph represents the Nicky Henderson stable but showed little in two starts on the Flat, and Machrihanish has suggested ability but is not one in whom too much faith can be confidently placed. Overall, though, it has the look of a two-horse race, with our vote just going to Wasted Talent.
