Verdict
Nod's Star gets a narrow vote over White Dove, Half Inch, Cansalrun and Somewin in this mares' only event. Nod's Star has things in her favour today, with the fast ground to help her cause, and a slight drop back in trip that will not tax her stamina as much. Her jumping improved as time went on when she made her handicap debut at Fakenham in the race won by Red Dahlia, and off 10st 1lb she makes some appeal. She gets plenty of weight from White Dove and that should tilt the scales in her favour, although the latter battled well to score over the course and distance last time. The ground was softer then though and she can be opposed. Half Inch was give too much to do when coming from behind at Worcester last time, and despite topweight today, she can be involved if kept nearer the pace. Of the rest, Cansalrun plugged on well when headed at Fontwell, and Somewin was ridden out to score at Ludlow but will not be as effective over today's trip, and we shall stick with Nod's Star.
