In depth

Winning pointer Rambling Rector goes hurdling after just one run in a bumper and has to go on the short-list considering connections. Tossapenny has also won between the flags and is certain to appreciate the extra distance having gone very close over 2m at Southwell last month. Jimmy Bell appeared to run above expectations when second here earlier in the month but the form of that race looks suspect. APTLY PUT showed progressive form in point-to-points last season and was second in a bumper at Aintree last May which has worked out well. An absence since is a worry but he looks the type to do well over hurdles and fences. Fleminport and Tarrona need to put recent poor runs behind them.

Aptly Put (IRE) 4-1 (11-12) Held up, headway on outside 8f out, hung left and went 2nd 2f out, no impression on winner, just held onto 2nd, 2nd of 10, 11l behind Station Master (11-12) at Aintree 2m 1f (3) gd in May.

Cloudy Glen (IRE) 4-1 (11-0) Prominent on inside, effort over 3f out, soon outpaced, weakened 2f out, tailed off, 5th of 6, 36 1/4l behind Don Des Fosses (11-0) at Uttoxeter 2m (6) sft in Dec.

Cul De Poule 16-1 (11-0) Mid-division, headway on inside 7f out, driven over 3f out, weakened over 2f out, 6th of 8, 24l behind Good Boy Bobby (11-7) at Chepstow 2m (5) hvy in Jan.

Fleminport (IRE) 7-2 (10-12) Held up in mid-division, jumped left and bumped 5th, struggling 6th, well beaten 3 out, 7th of 14, 35 3/4l behind Who's My Jockey (10-12) at Uttoxeter 2m 4f (4) gd in Nov.

Jimmy Bell 50-1 (11-5) Held up in rear, hampered 3rd, headway before 7th, led 3 out, headed after last, held when rider dropped whip inside final 100 yards, 2nd of 10, 1 3/4l behind Carole's Vigilante (11-5) at Hereford 2m 4f mdn (5) sft in Jan.
