Verdict

Sooner rather than later the assessor will catch up with HATTONS HILL but the gelding remains the one to beat despite being raised a total of 25lb for four successive course victories. He appears tactically versatile and has struck up an excellent rapport with Jamie Hamilton whose claim at least takes the Hogarth charge back under 12-0. Don Franco found a nice touch of form to score at Perth the last day and has a clear claim if able to repeat the form. However, that did represent a significant improvement on previous runs and he needs to prove he can do it again. The booking of Brian Hughes for the Irish raider will aid his cause. Touch Of Steel is respected at his best but the main danger could emerge from Apache Pilot who has a solid record at this track and remains on a fair mark. Lilly's Legend is a possible outsider if on a going day.
