In depth

Verdict

THE PINE MARTIN scored with any amount in hand over course and distance on his first start since joining the Hammond yard from Ireland. An 8lb rise is the handicapper's punishment but he still looks on a fair enough mark and is taken to score again. Catchthemoonlight looks best of the Russell pair as this consistent course and distance winner wins in her turn and should give promising Blair Campbell a good spin. Russian Rascal is unexposed and makes this handicap debut whilst Gunner Lindley tries again to gain that elusive first success hurdling. He was 10l behind the selection last time and the 3lb swing in his favour is unlikely to be enough. He's 0-25 over timber but has no less than seven seconds to his name and one day things will fall his way. Magnolia Ridge would be of interest too if returning to something like his best.
