In depth
Verdict
Maiden Voyage is anticipated to continue her rise up the Novice ranks at the expense of Freya Alex and a series of exposed rivals. Paul Webber has adopted very much a safety first attitude about the campaigning of this mare but when she has seen the racecourse, she has done little wrong at Bangor and Hereford. Today's surface is a good deal faster but the opposition does look weaker. Freya Alex won a seller on hurdling debut at Cartmel. She did win by twelve lengths but the second was ultimately a disappointment in a weak Mares' hurdle at Uttoxeter on Thursday. Bodfari Rose has looked no great shakes since switching to hurdling and her best form looks to be on a softer surface. Rascella finished second in a similar contest at the track in May. Her injury problems are well documented but the market is watched here. Of the remainder, the booking of Tony Dobbin aboard Heynestown Pride makes a modicom of appeal.
