In depth

Verdict

Em's Royalty should go close off top-weight, but we will take a chance on the fitness of Lasting Lady, with Premier Drive also expected to run well. The selection is one of two Howard Johnson runners, the other being the one paced Nameless Wonder. She is superbly bred by Supreme Leader out of a Buckskin mare but hasn't really lived up to that pedigree. She hasn't raced since March 2003 when showing promise over trips that should have been on the short side for one with her parentage. Howard puts her over three miles this afternoon and she should relish the extra distance. Em's Royalty finished runner up to Minster Shadow at Carlisle last form that entitles him to go close here. Premier Drive has finished placed in two reasonable races at Haydock and Wetherby this season and can challenge for place money once again. Major Blue is another to consider in a wide open affair, but we will give Lasting Lady the tentative vote.
