Verdict
Metal Detector, Fireaway and Sossus Vlei are three against the field in a tight novices chase and the confident vote goes to Metal Detector. The selection from the Kim Bailey yard has won his last two races in good style notably when defeating Saprono Lass last time. Granted he has a double penalty to contend with but with conditions in his favour he is taken to win again. Sossus Viel rates the main danger on his latest second behind Don Fernando but although he travels well in his races he finds little off the bridle and for that reason is opposed. Fireaway is also worthy of respect hew was a fair fourth behind Extra Cache when last seen but he may just need the run after an absence. Of the remainder The Extra Man would have a chance on his best but he has been let down by his jumping of late so for the winner we return to Metal Detector
