In depth

Verdict

After Lent, Lord Of The Hill, Brunton Castle and Southern Bazaar are among those for the shortlist and we shall side with the last named. Southern Bazaar is no world beater but at least he runs to a level of consistency. A staying on fourth at Catterick reads relatively well at this lowly level. After Lent represents the yard of Martin Pipe. The gelding does have the tendency to pull hard in his races and this may go some way to explaining why he has not got home in the past. Any money would be interesting. Lord Of The Hill has cheekpieces applied. A once useful chaser, he has dropped significantly in the weights. Brunton Castle has shown little worthwhile form since arriving from France but the stable are knocking in winners left, right and centre so there would be no surprise if he were good enough this afternoon. Trackattack was sent off a warm order for a Fakenham seller and disappointed greatly. A modest race in which Southern Bazaar is a minimum stakes play.
