Verdict
A desperately modest affair in which many players have doubts but Alcopop should see off Vulcan Lane. Venetia Williams' charge barely gets two miles but the form of his recent victory over Jodante was upheld on Saturday and if on song, he is the one to take the beating. Vulcan Lane looks a tricky ride for all the ability he possesses. He does not seem to travel too well on bottomless ground so connections are trying him with better conditions underfoot. Cool Chilli was officially rated 58 when taking a maiden chase at Catterick a couple of weeks ago. A 28lb rise for that win smacks of an all too literal reading of the form. Green Gamble is on chasing debut while the once promising Coppermalt is tried with a professional jockey for the first time in a long while. Lonesome Man is dropped significantly in trip. Alcopop is selected on account of the opposition rather than the ability he has.
