In depth

Verdict

Kilbeggan Blade disappointed in the Red Square Vodka Gold Cup when last seen but had shown progressive form prior to that and, despite his big weight, looks worth another chance with the main dangers looking to be Lucky Nellerie and Bellaney Jewel. The last mentioned has a nice racing weight and may well improve for the step up in trip so has to be respected. Jonjo O'Neill's Keepatem is less likely to stay this far, while Numero Un de Solzen is less exposed than most of his rivals but faces no easy task against far more experienced handicappers in a tough contest. Sue Smith's Sharp Belline is far from certain to get this far and although Graham Lee rides Your A Gassman for trainer Ferdy Murphy that is because he is unable to do the 10st for stablemate Lucky Nellerie, who looks the pick of the two Murphy-trained runners. But for a disappointing effort last time Kilbeggan Blade, would probably be a short-priced favourite and he looks worth another chance now that the yard is back among the winners.
