    Verdict

Alan Swinbank can land the opener with Vitelli although Sobraon and Hollows Mist should provide a measure of opposition. The drop down in trip is an obvious concern but off a mark of 110, the handicapper has had more than a say in the placing of this horse and he should be vindicated with his decision today. Sobraon was an easy winner of a weak Cartmel bumper. He could be anything and the market is watched for clues. Hollows Mist has a bit of work to do at today's weights but has gone well fresh in the past so a good run would not be a total surprise. Loscar was well beaten on his starts last year and the fact that Tony Dobbin has elected to ride Sobraon probably says enough. Hello Baby is another who has to reverse form with Sobraon and while he might not be good enough to win, he holds a solid each-way claim at a price. Vitelli is likely to be short odds and it is difficult to get away from him in the opener.
