In depth

Verdict

Granoski Gala will be popular here with a string of wins to his name but we're going to take him on with course specialist Anshan Spirit. The 10-year-old loves it around here, having landed this race for the past two seasons, and he also relishes fast ground. A repeat of last year's win would make him very difficult to beat and now that conditions are back in his favour he is the one to be on after a pointing win to boost confidence. Granoski Gala has contested just a couple of hunter chases before today and done well, running second and then winning over the same trip as this at Hexham last spring. Fast ground suits and confidence will also be high after a hat-trick of point-to-point victories so she is very much respected under Rose Davidson. A sound surface and this sort of trip suits Eriskay, but he is not easy to win with and the same can be said of Gangsters R Us, a former inmate of Alistair Parker, who has conditions to suit if on a going day. Little else makes appeal and we'll side with Anshan Spirit to complete a hat-trick in this race.
