In depth
Verdict
Crocolat is absolutely flying at the moment and can add this to a decent CV, with Belle Rouge and Circassian likely to emerge as the most serious rivals. Stef Liddiard does well with limited resources and Crocolat has been a part of that success lately, having been claimed after winning at Southwell in July and then following up in August on her first run for the trainer. This step up to two miles looks likely to suit well, given that the filly has run on strongly of late, and she can take full advantage here before going put a hefty 14lb. Belle Rouge is another due to go up soon, and already heads the weights here. Proven over the trip already, the mare won a handicap over two miles at Lingfield in July and has since enjoyed success dropping back to 1m 5f at Bath. She goes on any ground, is thoroughly consistent and can get heavily involved again here. Of the remainder, Circassian went really well when stepped up to 12 furlongs last time, and we can expect more at this longer trip. Driven hard to get home in second, the extra half mile certainly be in his favour and he too can go close, but our idea of the winner is Crocolat.
