Verdict

Saigon beat subsequent Gimcrack winner Casper Netscher in July but couldn't confirm the form in the Richmond Stakes last time where he finished fifth. He's not easily dismissed but SHUMOOS is worth another chance. She didn't act on the slow ground at York when well beaten in the Lowther Stakes last time, but her earlier placed efforts in the Queen Mary at Ascot and Cherry Hinton at Newmarket's July meeting give her strong claims in this so Brian Meehan's filly gets the vote. Vocational has plenty to find with the selection on Ascot running, and also with Crown Dependency on their running at Goodwood. Gabrial The King and Heeraat were both impressive maiden winners and this will tell us more about what they're capable of.
