Verdict

Sir Pitt is 2-2 on the Fibresand at Southwell and 0-4 on turf which would offer some hope to backers although this surface is very different to that at Southwell, and unless market support arrives ahead of his return the percentage call is surely to take him on. We'll do so by siding with TUSCAN GOLD, despite his odds-on failure at Sandown. That day Sir Mark Prescott's charge looked to be undone by a lack of pace over slightly shorter, so with two miles likely to help on that front and a fair second at the track to call upon he just edges the vote from Corr Point. Fergus Sweeney's mount was only just denied here 11 days ago and remains competitively treated up just 2lb, but even more so than Tuscan Gold he lacks a change of gear and may need a stiffer test still. The Starboard Bow shapes as though he'll stay and enters calculations along with fast-improving Bravo Bravo, although this is much tougher for Mick Channon's horse now he's been reassessed by the handicapper.
