In depth
Verdict
A horrible race in which Future Deal is a speculative selection over Jomus and Beckenham's Secret. The last named, like a number of the others, has shown signs of mulishness on occasions and is not one to trust implicitly. But he coped well enough with this surface to win here as a juvenile, so is no forlorn hope. A mile is just about his optimum trip on the level and he is worth noting in the betting. Jomus is another that can play up before the start and will never be on the A-List of contenders. Still, he has a great record of making the frame and can go well for each-way punters - odds permitting. Nevertheless, we turn to Future Deal - a course and distance winner a fortnight ago. The mount of Simon Whitworth was only raised 2lb for that success and, assuming that she settles into a rhythm early, the seven-year-old has a great chance of following up in this moderate company.
