In depth

Verdict

CONVALLARIA heads our short-list from Marmooq and Rubenstar. The last named isn't particularly well drawn but he's partnered by Richard Hughes who rides this track well and has only gone up by 4lbs for beating Sew'n'so Character at Lingfield. Hazytoo wasn't far behind them that day when making his debut for his new yard and is well worth considering with that run under his belt. Grey Boy merits consideration with his yard going well whilst Guildenstern has been performing consistently and deserves a place on the short-list but may be a trifle high in the weights. Marmooq ran on well to gain his fifth course success on his penultimate start and won't mind the drop back in trip and will be suited by the return to this venue which can't be said of Suhayl Star. Convallaria can take a keen hold which could cause problems for Alan Munro but she's well drawn for one that likes to race prominently and is only 6lbs higher than when providing Geoff Wragg with the last success of his distinguished training career. She can be a handful but she has the ability and her new yard should be getting to know her by now so we'll hope that everything falls in place for Convallaria.
