Alnwick is selected ahead of Sir Haydn and Capitalise. Alnwick is still a maiden but his three runs since being stepped up to this sort of trip strongly suggest that he has a race of this nature in him. He was outpaced at Lingfield three starts ago but both the form of that race and his August third at Goodwood read well enough in the context of this heat. Sir Haydn has yet to race beyond a mile and a half on the level but has won over hurdles and shouldn't have any problems getting the trip. He's well handicapped on his old form and should give a good account of himself. Capitalise is consistent but has failed to capitalise on that, he's been placed on eight of his eleven all-weather starts but is still without a win to his name on an artificial surface. George Baker is an eyecatching booking for Irish raider Gallantian and support for him or for Victory Mile would be of interest but at this stage of proceedings, our vote goes to Alnwick.
