Verdict

Maktavish can come out on top in this weak race to open the card; the list of dangers is headed by Lady Hopeful and Time Share. The selection has gone close on each of his last two starts and he looks to have been found a good opportunity here to resume winning ways. He chased home Blackheath at Wolverhampton last time, which was a good effort, and with the best of the draw here this 9-year-old looks the one to beat. Lady Hopeful finished behind our selection at Wolverhampton last time and there is no reason why the placings should be reversed this evening. Time Share does have ability but she has only managed to win one race and she is arguably better over 6f. Ducal Regancy Red is a lightly-raced filly who has been in good form and from a good draw she can go well. However, we prefer the claims of Maktavish who gets our vote.
