Verdict

Admodum looked progressive when scoring over 1m2f at Down Royal but didn't enjoy stepping up in trip on his handicap debut at Galway and was beaten a long way. STRIKING GOLD has shown some potential so it was a surprise when he was sent off at 40/1 at Galway but he defied the odds with a convincing victory. Jessica Harrington's charge is likely to be heading for hurdles before long but can take advantage of a lenient mark before doing so. St Gallen had beaten the selection over a mile here in May and wasn't disgraced in Listed company at the Curragh the following month so he can go well having just his fourth start. Both of Daredevil Day's victories have been on soft ground so he could do with some rain.
