Verdict

Beyond Borders gets the vote here ahead of Khaysar, Summer Bounty and Impish Jude in quite a competitive affair. Despite the selection not having won since his racing debut on the Flat in Ireland - and the fact that he has not raced since March - Mick Fitzgerald is an eyecatching booking for the Steve Gollings-trained six-year-old. There is no doubt also that the best of his Irish hurdling form sees him attractively weighted here so, for us, that adds up to a compelling case. Summer Bounty, despite being ten pounds higher in the weights than for his Towcester success, can run into some money. Polish Baron has a long absence to overcome, although he can't be ruled out if at his best. Khaysar is now back on the mark that saw him win at Market Rasen in April, so that gives him chances. Impish Jude's most recent win came in a seller but she has been competitive from a higher mark since and may well have needed her most recent start. Generous Ways is only five pounds higher than when winning at Exeter in April, so is entitled to support, and five-time French winner Comete du Lac is surely better than she has shown so far in this country. Misbehaviour is rated only one-pound higher than when having scored at Newton Abbot in April, but it would be hard to build a strong case for the others. This brings us back to Beyond Borders, who gets the nod.
