      Verdict

SIGN OF THE CROSS is given the vote to follow up on his recent Wolverhampton success with both Bellomi and Flying Applause worth noting. The selection won on the turf for James Fanshawe two seasons ago and has since then won twice on the all weather. His win when dropped into selling company last time out means he comes into the race in fine form and if he can translate that all weather form onto the turf he will not be too far away. Bellomi's last win came in a claimer at Newmarket last year when trained by Willie Haggas. He was then claimed by Gay Kelleway who was unsuccessful with him but now dropped to this grade he does warrant respect. Flying Applause landed a handicap at Nottingham on his penultimate outing but disappointed at this track last time out. He does step down to his favoured mile distance and with the drop in grade he should be noted. A poor contest in which we feel Sign of The Cross has more ticks in the boxes than most of his rivals.
