Verdict
Atavus never stopped improving last year with four victories including the Bunbury Cup, The Tote International Handicap and the Group 3 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury if he progresses again this term he could go to the top and the 5 year old is reported to be in fine trim for his reappearance. Tamburlaine was runner up in the 2000 Guineas a year ago and fifth in the Irish Derby but was beaten three quarters of a length by Atavus in the Hungerford Stakes where Warningford was a head away third. Atavus made all that day and many thought he was given to much rope, but it could be the same story again here. Tamburlaine ran well through when sixth on his reappearance in a Group One event in Dubai last month. Warningford is also a classy act, having won a listed affair last Spring at Newmarket and he also won this event when it was transferred to headquarters but he is best on easy ground. Red Carpet was a smart juvenile who has not been seen since finishing fifth in last year's Guinness and he may need the exercise.
