In depth
Verdict
Not many of these can be given a chance and, in a race that looks to lie between three runners, our vote goes to Eastern Dagger, who just gets the verdict over Miss Champers and Lucky Leo. Mark Johnston's colt opened his account when successful on the all-weather at Wolverhampton in February and, although a shade disappointing back on turf at Warwick earlier this month, there should be further improvement to come. The step up to a mile should suit the son of Kris and, with Michael Hills who has a good record when riding for the stable taking the ride, he gets the nod over Miss Champers. Richard Hannon's filly has a similar profile to the Johnston horse but is less likely to be suited by the longer trip today. Mick Channon's Lucky Leo is well in on official BHB ratings and has to be considered but has delivered very little so far and looks less reliable than the selection. The others make limited appeal.
