Verdict

Dermot Weld and Aidan O’Brien have won 12 of the last 13 between them. The former’s Zawara is much better than she showed in a Group 3 at the Curragh last time but INNISFREE looks a much more likely winner for Ballydoyle. He won the Group 2 Beresford Stakes as a juvenile before finishing runner-up to Kameko in the Futurity – re-routed to Newcastle. Unraced as a three-year-old, he reappeared to finish an eye-catching fifth behind today’s rival Earlswood in the Royal Whip at the Curragh though the winner, a very good fourth in the Irish Derby, won with a bit in hand and won’t go down easily. Leo De Fury is well held on Royal Whip form and stable companion Forbearance looks a better option after her victory in the Galtres at York. Sir Lamorak, runner-up in a Royal Ascot handicap, couldn’t handle Group 1 company and testing ground at Longchamp and should be more at home on this surface.
