Verdict

Dermot Weld has won six of the last seven and steps Silwana out of handicap company for the first time. She looked a very smart staying prospect when just getting up to score over two miles at the Curragh where she gave the runner-up 19lb. FIELDS OF ATHENRY, the only three-year-old in the line-up, has only had three runs and looked as though a longer trip would suit when runner-up to Botany Bay in a 1m4f handicap at Down Royal. He was also conceding lumps of weight to the runner-up and gets the vote. Drifting Mist is well exposed at this level and a good yardstick though looks vulnerable to improvers and his stablemate Certerach looks to have more of a chance. He didn't do quite so well last summer after returning from a tremendous spell at Meydan where he beat Cavalryman in the Dubai Gold Cup.
