In depth

Verdict

High numbers traditionally deliver a strong bias here which could make life tough for Affordability who made a pleasing debut on Tapeta last month, although this contest may well prove a stronger affair. Ingleby Mackenzie showed some promise on his York debut and may go some way to rewarding his naming after a wonderful Hampshire cricketer but GOLDEN SLAM just gets the nod over the Channon inmate. Roger Varian is starting to move into gear with his juveniles and his son of Pastoral Pursuits came home quite nicely after a sluggish start on debut in the decent Leicester maiden won by Dr Julius No. The market should guide with regard to the newcomers of which Richard Hannon's Moneyoryourlife, a son of the yard's high class miler Dick Turpin, makes most appeal with Winning Bid also of interest on paper.
