        Verdict

        High Reach can defy topweight in this all-weather contest, with Vandal, Zeuss and Swift Alchemist having shown enough to take a hand as well. High Reach reacted well to positive tactics when opening his account over the course and distance in February, and after a number of decent efforts, got back to winning ways in a 0-85 at Ascot last week. A model of consistency, Terry Mills's three-year-old sets the standard for the others to aim at. Vandal gained a hard fought success over track and trip a fortnight ago and will have to repeat that feat and more, as the runner-up Swift Alchemist is a pound better off, while Cheese 'n Biscuits was right behind in third and is also weighted to make a race of it. Zeuss, another course winner, had every chance at Bath behind Anglo Saxon and might be just a bit high in the weights at present, so all in all, High Reach is the percentage call.
