Monte Major is picked at a big price against likely market leaders, Hello Roberto and Clearing Sky. Derek Shaw is a fairly infrequent visitor to Lingfield Park so a note was made accordingly. Rated in the mid-70's at this time last year, he is in at a much favourable mark today. Backers do have to forgive two modest runs at Wolverhampton but if he can turn handy, he has enough power in a finish to make use of his position. Hello Roberto has been making hay in banded company at Southwell. Today is very much an acid test as far as any improvement is concerned. Clearing Sky is tried over five furlongs having largely been campaigned over six. He did win at Bath over five but it is worrying that regular pilot, Eddie Ahern rides Edged In Gold. That rival has struggled in lesser grade than this so the market is watched. Times Review is dropped in trip and the blinkers are on. He is much better than his last run might suggest. Lady Hopeful has been held up in her last two races - she would have claims if returned to front running tactics. Monte Major is going to be a price today and we are prepared to chance him in a wide open event.
