    Verdict

    FATHER OF JAZZ landed the odds with the minimum of fuss when defying a penalty at Chelmsford. A 12/1 chance in the early betting for the Winter Derby here later in the month, Roger Varian’s colt can take another step forward now handicapping. Society Red beat Oslo by only a head over track and trip a fortnight ago and the latter failed to get a clear run but Pactolus is no longer the force of old on the all-weather and slips further down the weights.
