Verdict
Scruffy Skip has won a couple of times on the all-weather lately and Space Station put in an improved race last time out but we side with CAPE QUARTER to pick up the win here. The selection ran reasonably at Thirsk on his first run on the turf and only weakened within the final furlong over that mile trip. With a furlong less to travel on this occasion and having won well on the artificial before, we think that Cape Quarter could get the victory. Also worth noting is that the selection's run at Thirsk was his first in six months so can be expected to make progress here. Scruffy Skip weakened over this trip at Brighton last time but two encouraging runs last month at Southwell means that we do not rule him out of the equation. A good run last time for Space Station when losing to Hobson by just half a length at Chepstow could signal a first win is not far away. With the Simon Dow trained horse in blinkers for the first time he will be hoping for a better run from his gelding today. However we give the vote to Cape Quarter.
