In depth
Verdict
Qadar has shown enough in two decent races to warrant support here, and is expected to get the better of Planet and Desert Lightning. Marcus Tregoning, who has emerged from a quiet spell, trains this well bred son of Xaar who has been unlucky to come up against too top performers in Henrik and most notably Dubawi. He wasn't beaten far in either of those contests and is a strong contender here against lesser opponents. There are some very interesting newcomers including Daybreaking, Heathwood and Desert Lightning. The last named catches the eye on pedigree, he is a colt by Desert Prince out of a Last Tycoon mare and will no doubt have been well prepared by trainer Jeremy Noseda. Of the others with experience Sir Michael Stoute's Planet is expected to improve on his solitary outing at Newbury and could run into a place at a decent price. Many of these have potential, but Qadar has proven ability and is a confident choice.
