Verdict
Admiral Compton let supporters down at Nottingham last time, but can make amends here at the expense of Hunter's Valley and Song Of Vala. Ed Vaughn's colt was backed as if defeat was out of the question in that decent event, but in the end could only manage third behind Baboosh and Thistle. His previous efforts all make good reading and he certainly deserves to win a race of this nature. Hunter's Valley returns to maiden company following an excellent fourth in a competitive handicap at York at the beginning of September, and should be in the firing line. Meanwhile Roger Charlton's Song Of Vala has earned some high ratings following some decent performances throughout the summer in both maidens and handicaps and is another with strong claims. Sea Of Gold and Magic Spin have also shown enough to warrant a mention, but Admiral Compton owes his supporters, and can deliver today.
