In depth
Verdict
Lilly Of The Guild holds obvious claims here and should at least make the places, but we will take a chance on Marnie, with Cumbrian Princess also expected to go well. John Akehurst does well with his all-weather runners and Marnie, who is taking a step down in class, could add to his tally. She did in fact win over course and distance in April beating Masafi in a class F event and following some promising runs on the turf could be set for a profitable winter campaign. Lilly Of The Guild has the best recent all-weather form having finished a close up third behind Extemporise at Wolverhampton. That was her second decent effort at the track and she could prove a tough nut to crack here. Cumbrian Princess got the better of Shifty in a driving finish at Wolverhampton last time and if she shows the seam determination today could also prove troublesome. But the value bet on this occasion is Marnie, who gets our tentative vote
