In depth

Verdict

Not a lot of form to go on but Doc Watson is given the chance to redeem himself after a disappointing run at Ascot. He was well supported in a hot maiden at the track but was much too keen for his own good in the early stages. Although there are some top stables represented here, the calibre of opposition does not look to hold much strength in depth. Sir Sidney certainly raced in decent company at two but was hardly fancied to do anything if the betting was to be believed. The BHB handicapper has him within 1lb of Doc Watson so he is respected on this occasion. James Caird has the services of Richard Quinn but his recent performances have been little to write home about. Adventurist hails from a shrewd yard and if there is any market support, it must be followed. The suspicion is though that he may need further than the mile in time. Should any of the youngsters fluff their lines, Loreto Rose is the percentage alternative. She has proved that she handles the surface and with raw race-fitness in her favour, she could be capable of lowering some loftier reputations.
