Verdict

Mark Johnston's BOWMAKER looked one to keep on the right side of after making a winning debut at Southwell in October and he finally has his first start since then in this handicap on the Polytrack racing off a mark of 85 which may well prove to be lenient judging by the manor of his victory at Southwell so he can win again with the main dangers rated as Torres Del Paine and Ghazwah. Richard Fahey's filly won well enough when taking a Southwell maiden last month but he seems harshly treated in a handicap in comparison to the selection, racing off a mark of 72. Diamond Johnny G has shown some promise and could be reasonably well treated but the American dirt-bred colt is likely to do better at Southwell. Kevin Ryan has his string in good order but his runner, Raddy 'ell Pauline, makes limited appeal and of more interest may be Torres Del Paine. The son of Compton Place has shown gradual improvement in recent starts and looks to be fairly treated for his first start in a handicap but Bowmaker created a very favourable impression first time up and can win again.
