In depth

Verdict

Whitbarrow would have claims if fit enough for his first outing in over three months but lack of a recent run has to be of concern and preference is for Edged In Gold, who gets the vote over another last time out winner Double M. The selection has shown improved form on the all-weather of late and remains well treated back on turf. Star Duster is difficult to recommend on this season's efforts, while Clearing Sky could probably do with some help from the handicapper. Top weight Canadian Danehill would have chances on the form shown at Folkestone in April but disappointed on a return visit to the venue last month so is probably best watched at present. More solid claims are probably held by Double M, who was good value for his win in a banded race at Kempton last time. This looks tougher though and a better bet looks to be Edged In Gold.
