Verdict

Diademas is preferred to Enodoc, with Toolittleyourlate and Lord Deevert not entirely out of it. This looks a close one to call, with only a narrow vote of confidence going to Diademas. The Jamie Osborne-trained juvenile takes a step down in class after trying to make all in heavy ground in a York nursery last time, and we can expect Jamie Spencer to crack out from stall one here and dominate from start to finish on this the colt's first try on the Polytrack. Successful on the Southwell fibresand in May, he can prove too strong for Enodoc. The latter has his sights significantly lowered further after contesting the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot and the Molecombe at Glorious Goodwood. Granted he has mixed it with better rivals, but his earlier form is no better than that of the selection. Toolittleyourlate was well backed to make a winning debut at Catterick, but this Middle Park entry failed to transfer his gallops work to the track. We can expect better here, and it would be no surprise if he figured in the finish either. Lord Deevert was bought in after romping home in a seller over course-and-distance two months ago, but has more on his plate today, and we return to Diademas as the answer.
