Verdict

A chance is taken that COMPAS SCOOBIE handles the going given he has gone close the last twice now including at Wetherby last time when ahead of a subsequent winner. Roger Varian’s charge is preferred to Goodwood fourth Hilltop Ranger and the more exposed California Lad as the latter drops back down in trip. Crystallographer ran well at Kempton on his racecourse debut and makes more appeal than Brick Lane with Dream Voice and Miss Carbonia newcomers to note.
