dwelt, raced in rear, headway and switched right approaching 2f out, ridden and every chance 1f out, unable to quicken inside final furlong
held up, effort on inside over 2f out, soon ridden and weakened over 1f out
hampered soon after start, raced in rear, headway and hampered over 2f out, soon bumped, never nearer
hampered start, soon chased leaders, weakening when short of room and hampered approaching 2f out
dwelt, held up, never trouble leaders
tracked leader, ridden and every chance from 3f out until 1f out
held up, plenty to do 2f out, headway approaching final furlong, driven and ran on inside final furlong, just failed
slowly into stride, raced wide, held up, weakening when bumped 2f out
went left start, always prominent, ridden and led 1f out, soon hung left, ridden out
Doctor Dennis is a tentative choice with Pips Song, Long Weekend and Sabana just three dangers in an open race. Doctor Dennis was given a patient but firm ride by Neil Pollard when finally getting back to winning ways over the course and distance a fortnight ago, and although upped slightly in the weights, has the same conditions here and should make a bold bid to follow up. Pips Song was just touched off in a blanket finish here on his last start, a great effort considering he is more of a fibresand specialist. Peter Hiatt's nine-year-old has tumbled down the handicap and can run well here. Long Weekend lines up in form but does have topweight to overcome. Nevertheless, he has hit form at the right time and will be a danger, perhaps more so than Sabana who is out to get the losses back after failing to justify favouritism at Wolverhampton last time. His success at Southwell the time before was his first since 2001 and his ability on the Polytrack is unproven, so he cannot be backed with confidence. In a tricky affair Doctor Dennis might prove to be the answer.
