Verdict

Easily the most valuable race on the card has understandably drawn a competitive field with a number of in-form rivals in opposition including Bond Playboy. Bryan Smart's charge had already shown useful form on turf before running out a highly convincing four-length winner of a Southwell maiden in Octotber. The son of Piccolo then ran creditably in defeat when runner-up in a minor event at Windsor before resuming winning ways when scoring in similar company at Catterick last time. Open to further improvement, this progressive type looks sure to go well and is the TEAMtalk choice to prevail. There are plenty of dangers such as recent course winner Hoh Investor who had Captain Hardy beaten a length-and-a-quarter in third in a six-furlong nursery late last month. It should be tight between this pair once again although the latter is 4lb better off at the weights and should appreciate the extra furlong so may be able to reverse the placings on this occasion. Leitrim Lakes is the least exposed so is open to further progress having notched a comfortable victory over 6f here and rates a danger on his handicap bow while hat-trick seeking Agilis and easy Goodwood winner Carrowdore are others worthy of consideration in a difficult heat.
