        Verdict

        It's hard to believe that one time ante-post Guineas gamble ALHAQUE will have many easier opportunities to shed his maiden tag. Cozy Tiger is the main threat on the figures with Buxted the most interesting of the newcomers. Alhaque wouldn't be one for the lily livered punter as neither Chapple-Hyam nor Haggas have persuaded this talented rogue to put his head in front in eight starts but the Classic dreams weren't pie in the sky as his runs behind Redwood and North East Corner show. He has 10lbs in hand of Cozy Tiger but was readily put in his place by a rival rated 7lbs inferior when last seen in October. This is his first run for a new yard and they have found what appears to be a decent opportunity. The most interesting opponent is arguably Buxted whose connections have had to be patient since shelling out 48,000 guineas for him as a two year old. His yard's horses are in good form and Joe Fanning is a positive booking so any market support would be encouraging for those looking to oppose Alhaque.
