Verdict

WINNING SHOW should make another bold bid for top honours and is preferred to Prince Charlemagne although money for Calzaghe would be fascinating. The dual purpose performer has been in a rich vein of form this winter under both codes and went close to recording another success at Kempton last time. He's able to race from the same mark which is just 4lbs higher than the mark from which he won over course and distance on his penultimate start. Calzaghe represents a shrewd yard so any support for this gelding would look significant. He has won in a visor in the past so it's interesting to see connections try him in blinkers at a course where he's won in the past over a similar trip. Prince Charlemagne didn't enjoy much luck in running last time out but comes into this race in rude health and has to be feared although his handicap mark could be on the verge of reaching the ceiling of his ability. Chanrossa has been consistent but is still a maiden whilst Sunset Boulevard may find this a shade too competitive and preference is for Winning Show.
