Verdict
Possibly the most competitive race on the card and we will take a chance on Bally Hall, with Mad Carew and Gingko put forward as the best of the rest. Gerard Butler's colt last saw a racecourse in August when chasing home some decent types in a similar event over course and distance. His turf form earlier in the summer was also of a high standard and if fit after his long lay off will be hard to beat. Mad Carew hails from the in form Gary Moore yard and has been beaten by some decent types during this winter campaign. Even with 10 stone in the plate he will be a danger to all. Paul Webber's Gingko was victorious here in early January and wasn't disgraced next time when a close up fifth in a hot handicap. Also worth a mention is recent Wolverhampton winner Eastborough who gets the assistance of the champion jockey, however we will assume that Bally Hall will be fit and he gets our vote.
